Guest designing for Dani Peuss' March card kit

Hello and happy Monday, crafty friends!

Woah, I am guest designing for Dani Peuss - such a honor!! I am so proud that they asked me if I want to create eight cards out of their March card kit - yeah!!!

But before we dive into my cards, let's have a look what is inside that kit:

Lots and lots of lovely precut images, 12 x 12 inches patterned paper, a set of 8  folded A2 (american) standard size kraft cards with matching envelopes, enamel stickers in triangle shape and a clear stamp set. I think that stamp set is very versatile, there is a huge "thank you" stamp which goes with a lot of different smaller sentiments for any occasions.

So let's get started!

This was a new experience for me, I never guest designed for a card kit before and what I first did, I spread out all things from the kit and did a little brainstorming... so bit by bit my ideas came together and I took some loose notes of what my mind came up with :-)

I challenged myself to mostly use only supplies from the kit, except of course basic supplies, such as glue, foam tape or white acrylic paint or some glitter paste etc. So it was clear my focal point will be the lovely precut images. I used a lot of dimension, especially for the big and shiny sentiments that they really popped off the card. And I used on some cards white acrylic paint splatters (applied with a middle size paint brush) to bring the whole design together, as the precut images all have a white border.

I love to use stickers in a different way than you would think of first - so on one card I created a little bunting out of them - I think this is a lovely idea and gives the card immediately a more cheerful touch.

I love stamping on clear acetate - thats what I made with the shaker card. I used white staz'on ink to stamp and it came out pretty crisp. But the sentiment didn't show enough for me so I put a layer of vellum behind it - and voilà, problem solved :-)

I cheated a bit with the bicycle card - for the background I used the brick wall stencil by MFT which I had in my stash, it is not included in the kit. I just wanted to create a kind of a little scene on that card and the brick wall stencil was just perfect for that :-)

So here are my eight cards I created for you. I hope you got inspired and maybe you will give it a try, too!

Have a great day!

Hugs,

  2. Hi Tina, firstly these cards are really gorgeous, all of them. I am in awe of you, I think you have created 8 really modern contemporary cards - this is not always easy to do from a kit. So it shows how great your designs are, and also I think the actual choice of elements from the kit is excellent and does lend itself more to that sort of style. I would never normally buy a kit, as I find them hard to use, but you have some really fabulous ideas here. I am thrilled for you that you got to Guest Design for this company and hope they ask you again :) xx
